If you invite me to be part of your magical occasion, I'll bring flexibility and fun to the planning process
Finding the right wedding planner is a little like finding a new friend, you should just click, after all, you are choosing someone to help plan the most special day of your life.
My journey in to the wedding industry began when I took a job as a sales consultant in a bridal boutique. On my first day I thought, "I've found my calling". I always cared more about the bride than selling her a dress.
Brides can find boutiques intimidating. I put people at ease and loved nothing more than having that first 1-2-1 with a bride. Seeing her relax and start enjoying herself inspired me; I opened my own boutique in January 2006.
During 11 years as a bridal boutique owner, I became more involved with weddings in a planning capacity. Brides would look to me for recommendations for other wedding professionals, as well as advice on styling the day. I regularly provided a shoulder to cry on when the planning became too overwhelming, which often led to me being asked to help out on the wedding day itself.
After selling the boutique at the end of 2016, it seemed like a very natural progression for me to move in to wedding planning. I am passionate about the wedding industry and providing the highest level of customer service, and am proud to have gained the reputation of being someone who will always go the extra mile for my clients.
I launched Ann Nicholas Wedding Planning in January 2018. My name is Ann Beggs, so why Ann Nicholas? Well, It's a nod to my husband Nick, he's pretty fab, and a very special human being. He has supported me 100% through my years of owning a boutique, which wasn't always a walk in the park.
When our 5 (yes 5!) children were very young, he was keeping everything going at home whilst I worked crazy hours building the business. With our kids now all grown up, it has been Nick's love, encouragement and total belief in me; that has brought me to where I am today. I couldn't have done any of it without him.
The most memorable weddings happen when the bride and groom are in a relaxed headspace: for me, that's the mark of a successful wedding day. To help couples get there, I offer a bespoke service, responding to their needs.
I specialise in managing the last few weeks before the wedding, relieving the pressure so the whole wedding party can relax.
I have contacts with amazing suppliers, including florists, venues and photographers, but my priority is helping brides interpret their own unique style. I'm not here to force my taste on you: I'm here to help you nail your dream day, even if you don't know what that is yet.
I'm a naturally positive person, a down-to-earth Northern girl with a good sense of humour, and a love of spreadsheets. As long as the sky hasn't fallen in, we're good to go.
In my boutique, the brides didn't want our relationship to end and I felt the same. As a planner, I can be more involved, bringing my skills to the table and giving you more of my time, experience and support.
